Rising from Challenges to Create Lasting Impact

Ammie Black-Cadwallader, born baby Jane Doe Overton but originally known as Ammie Audal came into this world in her own unique way that seemed to set the tone for the rest of her life. She grew up knowing most of her adoption story, being raised with her biological mother still in her life, essentially in a cousin capacity, after being adopted at birth by her great aunt and uncle on her maternal side. As a girl and young adult she went through as she calls it “a number of traumatic events that’s a clear statistical anomaly” that would give a Lemony Snickett book a run for it’s money including the death of her friend when she was 16. Despite, or perhaps because of it (as well as a certain psychology teacher in high school) she turned to science as a way to understand internal systems and wiring. Promising herself to use it to her advantage regardless of what life handed her to create a strong community around her.

Building a Brighter Future Through Collective Action

Ammie has always had the heart and passion for her community, even after trying to deny it for years. She spent time in nonprofit, for profit, and public education sector leadership, coaching, and consulting roles throughout her early career. with an educational background in the Psychology, Education, and Business field. She takes a front row seat to our societal challenges to ensure support methods are meaningful, supported by research, and centered in a holistic, harm reduction approach that benefits not only individuals but whole communities.
